February 2021 was like a breath of fresh air. Months after being inside during the Delhi winters, I decided to pack the bike and head off towards the lofty lands of Himachal. After a pleasing halt at Kasauli, the landscape changed completely the moment I set foot in Tirthan Valley. Leaving the touristy crowds behind, I entered a valley as remote as any! Destination? Shangarh.
I spend one whole week in the remote Sainj Valley of Tirthan. Tucked away amidst the absolutely raw and pristine backdrop of the Great Himalayan National Park, I live and explore the Shangarh village. The remoteness of this part of Himachal Pradesh is what makes it a well-kept secret.
It's often said that the more tough the road, the more precious the destination. And Shangarh personifies this statement beautifully. The beauty of this place is not just confined to its surroundings - It extends to the warm hearts of the faces that live here. Always smiling, always humble, always thankful. Such is the life of the people of this remote village in Sainj Valley, Kullu.
