The state borders are opening up again after what seems like years of toil, and we are slowly but surely inching towards travelling again. I don’t know about you but I have been waiting impatiently for normalcy, just so I can go about wandering amidst varied sceneries through the country!
All this downtime of quarantine has helped me take out time to plan my next travel – Everything from route mapping to health & safety preparedness, from managing the budget to finalizing destinations; and I’m sure you are raring to get out too! And if you are like me, I’m sure you must have used all this time at home to stock up on travel gear and essentials (Online shopping? Guilty as charged!)
Well, I hope this little blog helps you work around how to prepare yourself to travel again. Plus, I give away one SECRET TOOL that I have been using for a while now for ALL my travel purchases and bookings! So, let’s get straight to it!
1. Do your research
I cannot stress on this enough (for this one point is common across all my travel tips), but research really is the first and the foremost thing to do before your travel. Take out time to read articles, watch videos and find out more about the place you intend to travel to, to understand what you plan to do, how you intend to go about it and so on. Especially in times like these, we really have to be on top of our game to travel safely – for ourselves and others.
2. Go through all travel guidelines
We cannot escape the fact that travel has changed forever. Safety and hygiene take the centre seat now, and it is something that we all will have to adjust to and make peace with. The first thing you want to be doing is going through all travel guidelines (Which are different for different states in the country) and adhere to the rules. Remember, not following the government-set guidelines can not only cost you your long-awaited travel plans but your health too, that we often take for granted.
3. Get a COVID Test for yourself
Now that you have done your research and gone through the travel guidelines, getting yourself tested for COVID-19 is the next step. While it is not a mandatory step, it surely is a preventive one. Having a COVID negative report with you will save you a lot of hassle, which will only help you immerse thoroughly in nature on your next trip. You can go through the list of ICMR approved labs in your area to schedule a COVID test for yourself and your family.
4. Befriend safety kits
Well here is something that we probably never gave much attention to, before this pandemic struck us. Probably the most important of these tips is to always have a safety kit with you. Apart from the generic medicines and a trauma kit, it is imperative that you have sanitizers, masks and gloves in adequate quantity for any trip that you are undertaking. You can get a readymade safety kit online these days and even get a lucrative deal on it by saving money via this referral link. (You’re welcome!)
5. Social distance is the norm
Now that you are all set to pick your bags and head out to explore, remember to follow all norms of social distancing! Maintain adequate distance when conversing with people, choose to pitch a tent over the option of staying in a hotel, and so on. It is fairly easy to get carried away when we are out travelling, but one can never be ignorant towards the grim reality that this pandemic really is. So, enjoy responsibly!
Now that we have gone through your travel checklist, let us get to the exciting part – Onto the SECRET TOOL I talked about before!
So, I have been purchasing a lot of travel essentials for myself online. It’s needless to say how good Amazon/Flipkart deals are during a sale, right? But what if you could save even more? That’s exactly what I did, through shopper.com!
It is basically a free browser extension that simply gives you discount coupon codes every time you are surfing through booking portals like Expedia and AkbarTravels, or making a purchase on any online retail stores like Amazon and Flipkart.
Know more about all the other websites it is applicable on, and about many more lucrative discounts here. 😊
Effortlessly and effectively, I have saved upwards of INR 1,500 in the past month alone while shopping for all my travel needs and booking hotels for my upcoming trip! That literally means two FREE tanks of gas for my bike. (I love it!)
Now that you know my secret tool to save extra bucks every time I book or purchase something online, go try it out for yourself! I’d love to hear your thoughts on it. For more such tips and tricks about travelling, stay tuned!
See you soon, dear traveller. 😊
